Vessel: 65’ Motor Yacht (2016)
Location: South Florida
Service Category: Haul-Out Management, Structural Assessment, Warranty Coordination
Duration: Haul-out period + claim coordination
Performed by: TBZ Management Team

Issue

During a scheduled haul-out for bottom service, including bottom paint and running gear inspection, the TBZ team identified irregularities in the hull surface consistent with fiberglass debonding.

These appeared as air pockets beneath the gelcoat — a condition that can compromise structural integrity if left unaddressed. This type of issue is typically only visible during haul-out and requires trained inspection to detect early.

Assessment & Action Plan

Recognizing the potential severity, TBZ escalated the situation immediately and:

  • Conducted a detailed inspection
  • Brought in an independent marine damage surveyor
  • Confirmed the condition was consistent with a manufacturing-related defect

Based on these findings, TBZ initiated a warranty claim with the manufacturer.

Project Coordination & Execution

To move efficiently and protect the owner’s position, TBZ:

  • Coordinated communication between owner, surveyor, and manufacturer
  • Engaged a trusted fiberglass specialist for a detailed repair quote
  • Structured the repair process to align with manufacturer requirements
  • Supervised the repair work to ensure proper execution and finish quality

The repair proceeded without delays, remaining aligned with the vessel’s haul-out schedule.
